If you’re a Christian author, there’s a good chance you’ve said it:
“I hate marketing.”
I’ve heard it again and again from writers I respect.
Not because they don’t care about readers.
Not because they don’t want their books to matter.
Not because they’re lazy.
They say it because marketing often feels like self-promotion, pressure, noise, or manipulation.
I understand that feeling.
But I’ve come to believe something important:
The problem isn’t marketing. The problem is the wrong definition of marketing.
Marketing, at its best, is not hype.
It’s not a megaphone.
It’s not pretending to be something you’re not.
It is an exchange of value rooted in service and relationship.
For Christian creators, that changes everything.
What if marketing is not about “selling yourself”?
What if it’s about stewarding what God has entrusted to you?
What if it’s about helping the right readers discover the message, story, or ministry God gave you to share?
That is the heart behind my free live presentation:
I Hate Marketing
In this session, we’ll talk about:
why so many Christian authors resist marketing
the difference between marketing and manipulation
how Scripture reframes marketing as stewardship and service
why your book is only the beginning
how to identify natural marketing paths already present in your work
how to work from your strengths instead of trying to be everywhere online
how to cultivate authentic readers and advocates without feeling fake or pushy
This will be practical, encouraging, and interactive.
No hype.
No gimmicks.
No “secret formula.”
Just a real conversation about how Christian creators can share their work with confidence and faithfulness.

If you’d like to join us, just reply “I’m in” and I’ll send the Zoom details.
And if you know another Christian author who has ever said, “I hate marketing,” feel free to share this with them.
Because maybe the monster isn’t marketing itself.
Maybe it’s the way we’ve learned to think about it.
